Session I
Promoting a Preventative Safety and Health Culture: International instruments, national strategies and good practices
Thanks to the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs of Germany, simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, German, French and Russian.
Every worker has rights to decent and productive work which give them a stake in lasting peace, prosperity and progress. This is something that cannot be compromised, even during a time of global socioeconomic suffering such as economic crises, natural disaster or political unrest. In order to ensure decent working conditions and occupational safety and health (OSH), the International Labour Organization (ILO), in collaboration with social partners as well as other international and regional organizations, promotes national strategic approach which aims to strengthen national OSH system through the develop
ment and implementation of national OSH policy and programme.
The 2011 ILO International Safety Conference will focus on the application of international tools on OSH strategic approach at national and enterprise levels. In particular, good practice in construction and health sectors, which face high and emerging risks to occupational accidents and diseases, will be highlighted. The conference will offer an excellent forum to share experience of different stakeholders and learn how to put in practice at each level.
Organiser: International Labour Organization (ILO) in co-operation with the International Social Security Association (ISSA), the German Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (Basi) and Messe Düsseldorf
