76 institutions and top national organisations in the field of occupational safety and health collaborate under the Basi umbrella on a voluntary basis.

This body includes Ministries on both the national German and regional level, government bodies, unions and management, statutory accident and health insurance bodies, professional, specialist, and scientific associations.

The most important task of Basi is to organise the international Congress on Occupational Health and Safety (A+A) which is the largest national and international meeting for specialists in the field of safety, health and workplace design.
